OSHO Rebalancing

What is OSHO REBALANCING® ?

OSHO REBALANCING® is a form of body-oriented awareness-work which helps people to come back to harmony with themselves, so they can live their intrinsic unity of body, mind and heart. OSHO REBALANCING® works with a unique synthesis of bodyreading, deep connective-tissue massage, joint-release, energy- and breath-work, bodyawareness- and movement education, as well as with emotions and their expression. While the body frees itself from muscular rigidity and begins to relax, energy is released. Simultaneously we become aware of our old emotional holding-patterns, mental attitudes and habits. This released energy supports us in our process to more self-understanding and helps us to discover our hidden potential. We come in touch with our essence and enables us to meet life in a more spontaneous and meaningful way.

The essence of OSHO REBALANCING® is a loving, sensitive touch. Bodywork is one of the most subtle arts and not just a matter of technique- rather an expression of love. OSHO REBALANCING® consideres the body as a gift of immense value, not as a mechanism to be put right.

A full treatment consists of a series of 10 to 20 sessions and pays respect to the unique background of the individual, his/her needs and challenges of the actual life-situation.

and how was it born ?

In the mid-seventies a community of seekers grew around the enlightened master OSHO in Pune, India. Bodyworker and therapists from various backgrounds got inspired by Osho’s vision in their work.

In an open, experiental atmosphere they took the courage to go beyond their limitations in their work. As old structures dissolved, a new space of playfulness and totally new ways of human growth came int existence. The form of bodywork that emerged from this space, became known as OSHO REBALANCING® in 1980 for the first time. Meanwhile thousand of people have been trained as OSHO REBALANCING® worldwide.

Principles of OSHO REBALANCING®

Structural Balance

A balanced body is characterized by the ability to expand. This balance through expansion is the result of harmonious vertical and horizontal lines through the main joints of the body. It requires the uplifting forces to be spread evenly in order to balance the gravitational forces.
Contraction or collaps of the body is often caused by several factors: as a result to any experience, which has not been lived fully (something in the energy-cycle remaining incomplete) we contract. Particularly so called “negative emotions” as paralysing fear, hidden sadness, held back anger and avoided pain cause contraction. If this happens repeatedly it becomes a pattern, leading to chronic contraction.
Additionally we learn contraction by imitating holding patterns of our parents, and any not healed physical and emotional traumas result in compensations within the overall balance of the body.
For these reasons, releasing contractions is necessary for the body to regain the ability to expand again.

Awareness Through Touch

By touching someone with our hands- even lightly- amazing things can happen, just by being totally present in our touch: a deep sensation of energy, a subtle communication, as if the most deep layers of our being are being touched and moved, along with a feeling of coming closer to oneself, accepting oneself more deeply.
This way of touching can have a great impact on us, but it can’t be explained scientifically. With this in mind we can’t reduce OSHO REBALANCING® to just a particular technique of touch.
What is the effect of changes in the body?
Deep connective tissue massage is usually done with applying a certain pressure, which seems to be the cause for change. Actually it is the awareness of the person, being touched as a main trigger for change. Change simply happens when we suddenly become aware again of some part of the body that seemed forgotten.
Passiv mobilisation of joints creates space in the joints, deep structural massage-strokes initiate changes in the organisation of layers in the body’s connective tissues.
With the experience of awareness creating the most change we hold the key to overcome our deepst holding-patterns.

Emotional Release And Awareness

Our emotional, mental and physical reality form one unity, they can’t be seperated.
Our habitual reactions are based on incomplete emotional energy-cycles, originating from our past. The shape of our body indicates, how these patterns have formed us, determine our behaviour and even how we perceive ourselves, our self-image.
We are mostly cot off by chronic muscular tension from our natural, spontaneous movement, a vibration or streaming of energy, felt throughout the entire body.

This muscle-armor (W. Reich) keeps a tight controle over our thoughts and feelings.
For this reason we are mostly not very conscious of our emotional attitudes and patterns of thought.

Bodyawareness And Meditation

“Live consciously- whatever you are doing- walking, sitting, eating....or, if you don’t do anything, just breathing, relaxing, laying in the gras- never forget, that you are the watcher. Make it an ongoing process….you will be surprised, how your life changes in its entire quality”
Osho

Emphasising on bodyawareness is a first step towards going in, a new orientation of our consciousness from the outer to an inner space of peace and silence. This is at the core of OSHO REBALANCING®. This meditative approach to bodywork can initiate a process of deep transformation, becoming less identified with outer concerns. It does not mean to go on an “inner escape”, but being deeply rooted in our reality (essence).

„Grounding“

Another important aspekt of bodywork and personal growth is what we call grounding.
Our body –as a link between our being and the world around us- has to reconnect with the earth.
Our legs and feet act as the roots of a tree: the tree can only grow to its full size, if it is anchored by strong roots deep in the ground.
Accordingly, we humans, wanting to find our place in this vast existence, need a solid foundation, an “under-standing”.
A more holistic understanding of ourselves enables us to find our way in this world and to meet its challenges intelligently.

Inner Alertness

In this training we work with powerful methods, which will help us to recognize our defense-mechanisms.
For this reason it is impotrant to develop an openess to contact our vulnerability.
This requires the willingness and the courage to look at our old patterns.
To enter a space of openess and inner alertness, is one of the most basic aspects of learning, how to work with people.
During the group-process and by giving and and receiving sessions, we learn the acceptance of our sensitivity and vulnerability. In this space transformation through a deep acceptance of ourselves is possible.

Our approach to learning is based on the insight that we can facilitate somebody’s
growth process only to the extend of how deep we have gone in our own experiences.

Back to the Roots

Back to the roots, to the basics. I must admit I wasnt ready for Dynamic today; I had no idea about what to expect, would I even remember how to facilitate? Would I be able to breathe to jump? All these questions popping up, floating around. In the end all thoughts fell away...We came in set up the space around us and within us. I put on a mix cd and we waited for participants to show...Familiar faces and one new face entered the room and we breathed together released together grounded together stood in silence together celebrateed together. It is all about coming home to ourselves to eachother. I am grateful for this........

We have been on a bit of a hiatus from sharing meditations. During this time we travelled and built strength, discovered new silences, faced ourselves, dancing, creating and loving. We are glad to offer a five day OSHO Dynamic Meditation Intensive next week to get grounded in this space and create even more space for health, love and light to exist. Check the site for info

The Great Way

The Great Way is not difficult
for those who have no preferences.
When love and hate are both absent
everything becomes clear and undisguised.
Make the smallest distinction, however,
and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart.

If you wish to see the truth
then hold no opinion for or against.
The struggle between what one likes
and what one dislikes
is the disease of the mind.

Chakras + Breath=Life

Wheels, Spirals of energy, Centers and countless other names for the word "Chakra." There are seven main chakras that run along the center line of the body. There are many more "minor chakras." This week, after Charging our energy with Dynamic Meditation, we will continue to energise through this simple and powerful technique.

OSHO Chakra Breathing Intensive

April 13th-18th

7-8am Weekdays 7.30-8.30 Saturday

Chakra Breathing is an active meditation technique, that uses the power of breath and musical sounds to activate and energize the chakras, or energy centers of the body.

We have seven major energy centers located along the midline of the body. Each chakra is connected to sound, color and light as well as to the organs and appendages of the body. For more information about chakras click here.

During these six day intensive we will begin to bring awareness to and revitalize these energy centers.

OSHO Active Meditations were created with the understanding that we live in a very different way today than in the times of the Buddha. These modern techniques prepare us to go into a space of awareness and relaxation. Using different physical movements, sound and/or breath to release tension and repressed emotions, a new energy and silence arise, allowing one to be more present in daily life.

Located at New York Core Center

115 East 23rd st at Park ave., 12th floor.

Contribution: $60 for all six days

Drop in $12

Living in a Dynamic World

Today was the first day in what will be a series of OSHO Active Meditation Intensives. This week we will be diving into OSHO Dynamic Meditation. This is the one of the first techniques that I did and continue to practice. The effects of this technique on my life have been innumerable. For me the main effect is that I have been able to become aware of different destructive patterns that I have created in my life and through this awareness allow these patterns to dissolve. I was remarking to a new participant this morning that, although I have been doing this technique for some time, each time is new, is a discovery. Dynamic is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get! Over in Europe our beloved friends Ali Von Stein and Krisana Locke of Creative Module, have just completed a research project on the effects of Dynamic Meditation. Below you will find some info that Krisana sent to me about the work.

Dynamic Meditation Research Project

they were all so beautiful and really helped giving us lots of feedback
and filling out psychological test forms, and saliva testing for DNA and
RNA to test epigentics and the effects of meditation on the biology of
the body.
Viram and Urja, researchers from the North
Lake College Texas and John Hopkins University Washington DC, are so lovely and have contributed so much to this project too.
It was an intense week, with the screening day 2 days before where 60
people turned up hoping to be part of the project.
yes, they got paid as any international research project participants
must be paid. If they completed the 7 days and all the screening and a
follow up evening, a participant receives $120
There were 30 participants in total.

We hope to do a project in NYC this year too!

We hope that they bring this project to NY too, the tests results will be put in a scientific journal in a bout 6 months, we will keep you posted. If you want to do some research of you own come and join us this week for the remainder of the Dynamic Intensive and let us know what you think.

OSHO Dynamic Meditation Intensive
April 6th through April 11th

Through these steps a joyous and relaxed balance is restored to body and mind and once the ground is prepared in this way meditation becomes easy and enjoyable. From this point you can begin to transform your daily life, bringing silence and celebration into any moment.

Sunday, March 15, 2009

So as Spring begins to reveal itself, we move into a new time, new phase of relating to each other and the shifts around us. We also have been shifting from our normal meditation schedule, to create space for our artistic selves to dance a bit more. Neerajan journeyed to the beutiful jungkle in Brazil last month, while I held it down here in the NY jungle. Instead of our 21 day Dynamic cycle, we decided to do two six day intensive. One OSHO Dynamic and the other Chakra Breathing Intensive, we chose Chakra Breathing to share another powerful technique in the morningtime. From the first day I felt the power of this rather simple technique. Both Dynamic and Chakra Breathing utilize the breath to awaken the body, its cells, muscles and emotions exactly what we should be doing in the morning awakening our whole selves into a new moment. I had so much energy after each session, it was nice to experiment with this technique. As far as particpants or my expectation of what they turnout would be, as with most expectations was not met. The Dynamic intensive had more people joining each day as it went along, and the Chakra breathing attendance was low, but as they say quality not quantity. For both workshops the energy of the particpants was high and invested in every moment of their participation in the process. With that said, We will do a six day OSHO Dynamic Intensive starting this week. Woohoo!

This month we will offer a six day Intensive!

March 16th-21st

Weekdays 7.00-8.00AM

Saturday 7.30 - 8.30 AM

In a Safe Space we share this powerful method to start your day. During this hour long technique we use breath and body to release tension, stress and repressed emotions. This technique brings you back to your life energy by going through different blocks, that we call layers. Each layer that we face and peel away in this process starts to reveal the truth of who you really are. From this point you can begin to transform your daily life, bringing silence and celebration into any moment.
